Dawn of Private Science Symposium

Columbia University

New York, June 02, 2018

Organized by the Science Partnership Fund, the theme for this year’s DPSS conference is “Commercial Space Stations: Building an Ecosystem in Space.” The symposium brings together leading scientists, foundations, corporations, educators, policy makers, and commercial spacelines under one roof to create opportunities for scientific research in space. This groundbreaking collaboration will enable advancement of science that will benefit our species, planet, and existence.

The growing private space industry now has cutting edge resources on par with NASA and beyond. While its primary focus has been tourism and commercial activity, there is a lucrative opportunity for commerce to champion science. The DPSS Symposium opens the conversation between scientists and the private space industry to discuss topics of research in biomedical, material, physical, plant sciences, and more. These discussions will create new opportunities for scientific experimentation in partnership with the private sector, and build a community dedicated to the pursuit of space science.
