33rd Space Symposium

The Space Foundation

Colorado Springs, April 03, 2017

ROOM joined space professionals, innovators and entrepreneurs from more than 30 countries around the world at the 33rd Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, USA, at the start of April to explore the future of all sectors of the space industry.

Represented by Clive Simpson (managing editor), Tiffany Chow (USA commissioning editor) and Margaret Simpson (exhibition booth host), the symposium proved a great promotional opportunity for the magazine.

Existing authors dropped by for a chat and many new people were introduced to ROOM, a unique publication in the international space and aerospace marketplace, which was pleased to extend its relationship with the 33rd Space Symposium this year as a media sponsor.

Feedback to the quality, content and appearance of the magazine was very positive and many delegates were particularly attracted by ROOM’s unique, eye-catching and alternative covers - and the wide breadth of articles written by professionals and experts in the field.

It was also good to be able to talk to the younger age group of upcoming engineers and researchers, comprising graduates and post-grads, many of whom were drawn by the vibrancy of the graphics on the front cover and the attractive pop-up banners.

The strap lines used on the ROOM banners 'Bringing space people together' and 'Connecting & informing the global space community' were attractive and apt, providing a useful talking point with passing delegates.

On the final day there were numerous educators and college teachers in attendance, all of whom saw ROOM magazine as a great resource, especially as it covers a wide range of current topics in accessible language for them to re-use in the classroom.

Clive and Tiffany spent much of the symposium networking and liaising with potential contributors on topics for future issues and as a result have a wealth of new and exciting articles in the pipeline.

The symposium's Boeing Exhibit Center and Pavilion featured 188 displays of the latest in space technology, products and services, with 27 exhibitors from outside of the US, including companies based in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, the UAE, Ukraine and the UK.

Among the exhibit highlights were Blue Origin’s new space capsule - on show for the first time - and the new NASA space suit from Lockheed Martin, also on its first public outing.

In 2018, the 34th Space Symposium takes place in Colorado Springs between 16-19 April.
